The Trust offers the following Scholarships and other awards:

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), in conjunction with the University of Cambridge Kurt Hahn Trust, has offered one Scholarship for the academical year 2017-18. The student should be an outstanding graduate or an undergraduate at present in his/her final year who wishes to spend a year at an institution of higher education or research in the Federal Republic of Germany. The candidate should not be of German nationality. Candidates should normally have a good working knowledge of the German language.

The scholarship will comprise of 750 Euros per month for students working towards a Masters degree and 1,000 Euros per month for students working towards a PhD and undertaking postdoctoral research. Successful scholars will also be entitled to an award towards travel costs. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of the German language. Further support for a specialised German language course can be made available as an additional part of the Scholarship.

The Kurt Hahn Trust

The Trustees of the Kurt Hahn Trust offer annual awards of £1000 towards expenses on courses in Germany during the long vacation 2017, designed to improve a student's knowledge of the German language and German culture and institutions. Applicants for these grants must be members of the University of Cambridge: either as undergraduates or Graduate Students. Students of German in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages are not eligible. Preference will be given to graduate students who have British nationality. Applicants should ask their College Tutor and a Faculty member for references to certify that the award would be of benefit to their academic work.

The German Cambridge Society

The German Cambridge Society is offering two awards to enable students from Cambridge to attend the International Summer School at the Humboldt University in Berlin and one scholarship to attend at the Hessen International Summer University at the University of Kassel. These awards are open to all current undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those from Modern and Medieval Languages. Native speakers of German are not eligible.

The scholarship will include the course fee and accommodation but does not include travel to Germany or the refundable deposit for accommodation in Germany.
